Derek Pascoe has been in the television industry for over 25 years working as a cameraman, producer, director and editor. Based in The Southern Highlands of New South Wales allows Derek to effectively service clients in both Sydney and Canberra as well as interstate and overseas.
Derek completed an Arts degree majoring in Film and television at Curtin University in Western Australia, before starting his career in regional television in Western Australia. He then moved to The Australian Broadcasting Corporation, initially working as an editor on The 7.30 Report, then working as a studio director and local promotions producer before deciding that back behind a camera was where he wanted to be.
Derek also spent ten years based in Europe working for, among others, Reuters and NBC, travelling to many corners of the world.
He has extensive documentary, feature, advertising and corporate experience. Derek is equally comfortable in the broadcast and corporate worlds and since returning to Australia in 2000, has specialised in helping overseas companies undertaking production within Australia.
Derek’s desire for constant creative challenges have taken him everywhere from war zones to underwater, from advertising to features, In 2018 he directed the documentary “Riding High” about the start of the equestrian sport of Eventing in Australia, which was an official selection at the Equis Film Festival in New York. He also appeared on screen in the Feature film ” The Screaming Silent” and was DOP on the music video “Wonderful’ by Steve Balbi, directed by Tanzeal Rahim, which won best music video at the New York Cinematographers awards (NYCA) in November 2020, The Five Continents Film Festival in Venezuela and The Moscow International Film Festival in 2021.
He prides himself on providing the same level of creativity and enthusiasm for any project big or small.
